Lieutenant EMT Mason Mire is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. Mason started in the fire service at 16 years old in May of 2012 as a volunteer in Goochland County at Manakin Company 1. During his time there, he obtained his basic firefighting certifications and EMT. In 2015, Mason graduated from The Steward School and then attended East Carolina University. In Spring of 2019, Mason graduated from ECU with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology. Mason returned home to Goochland and was hired as a Career Firefighter/EMT in August of 2019. Mason is currently assigned to Courthouse Station 5 A- Shift. Mason has been assigned to stations 1,2,3,4 and is a part of the Water Rescue Team. In the Summer of 2024, Mason Graduated from the Virginia Fire Officers Academy. Mason is a proud resident of Goochland County and enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Haley and dog, Poppy. In his free time, Mason loves attending various sporting events, especially East Carolina University football games. Mason also enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with friends. His promotion is effective November 1st, 2024.

Lieutenant Paramedic Jason Cox is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. Jason joined Goochland County Fire-Rescue in January 2020, where he has been assigned to Stations 2, 3, 5, and 6.  Jason started as a volunteer in Powhatan County in the summer of 2013, where he obtained his EMT. Jason served as a EMS provider, Captain, and Assistant Chief of the Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad. He then completed his AAS degree in paramedicine, working in Powhatan, Amelia, and Cumberland as an ALS provider with ESS.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Virginia Tech in 2010. Lieutenant Cox is cleared RSI Medic, a FTO, and continues to develop his skills in Heavy & Technical Rescue.  In his free time Jason enjoys woodworking, hiking in National Parks with his wife Jennifer, and obsessing over rope systems. His promotion is effective December 1st, 2024.

Lieutenant EMT Scott Nuessle is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. Scott joined Goochland County Fire-Rescue in December 2021, where he has been assigned to Stations 2, 5, 6 and is a member of the Water Rescue Team. He started with Hanover Fire and EMS at an early age in 1992 volunteering at Stations 10 & 6.  In 1997 he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Naval Air Crewman and reached the rank of AE2, participated in multiple deployments, and was assigned as shop supervisor to the Aviation Electrician shop. After serving in the US Navy, Scott worked for the Newport News Fire Department as a Firefighter Medic, and later became a Police Officer.  Scott has attended the US Navy E4 and E5 leadership school and Shop Supervisor School.  Lieutenant Nussle regularly assists the Training and Safety Division with instructing fire and EMS classes.  He enjoys spending time on the water boating and being outdoors on his days off duty. Scott especially enjoys spending time with family in the Adirondack mountains.  His promotion is effective December 1st, 2024.
