Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a national emergency preparedness program. The CERT course is a free 22-hour program offered to Goochland’s citizens 16 years of age and older which provides basic training of emergency response skills that are essential in the critical time after a disaster and before emergency responders arrive on the scene. Instructors will provide hands-on training in such areas as:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety and Suppression
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Light Search & Rescue Techniques
  • Team Organization
  • Disaster Psychology

Goochland CERT meets quarterly, usually at the Goochland Library. The meeting is open to all Goochland County residents even if you aren’t trained in CERT. Meetings will include guest speakers and / or training opportunities. Look for meeting announcements on Goochland Fire-Rescue Facebook page.
