Chief Ferguson is pleased to announce the promotion of the following officers effective July 1, 2024.
Captain EMT Kevin Hatcher is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. He was promoted to Lieutenant in September 2022 and has been a career member of the department for the past 11 years. Prior to becoming a career member in the organization, he served 5 years as a volunteer assigned to Manakin Company 1. Kevin is energetic and is an active participant in all facets of the department and has been instrumental in inspecting and documenting our dry hydrants throughout the county. FF/EMT Hatcher is a member of the Water Rescue Team who was recognized with a “Valor Award” for a water rescue life save in May of 2018 during swift water flood conditions on Riddles Bridge Road. Kevin is a graduate of the Metro Richmond Public Safety Leadership Academy and the VFCA Virginia Fire Officers Academy. Captain Hatcher is a member of the Fire-Rescue Honor Guard and graduated from the National Honor Guard Academy Class 2022-6 in October 2022. He has demonstrated positive and effective leadership and is highly respected by his peers.
Lieutenant Paramedic Jordan Fisher is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. Jordan started in fire-rescue in December 2008 as a volunteer with Huguenot Volunteer Fire Department in Powhatan County. He achieved his basic firefighting and EMT certifications and continued to instructor and leadership certifications in his time there. Jordan was first hired in 2016 by Richmond International Airport as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter. While there, he began his Paramedic program with Hanover County through J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in 2018. In March 2018 Jordan was hired by Goochland County Fire-Rescue as a Firefighter/EMT. The summer of 2019 he completed the Paramedic program and was a released Firefighter/Medic in the fall of the same year. In Spring 2021 he completed his Associate of Applied Science EMS-Paramedic. Jordan is currently assigned to Station 6, and has been assigned to stations 1, 2, 3, and 5 in his time employed with Goochland. Jordan has a wife and two children, 11 and 2, who are his focus when he is off, taking them to baseball and dance. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and camping activities in his free time.
Lieutenant Paramedic Timothy Immekus is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. Timothy has over 15 years of Fire and EMS experience and was hired as a Firefighter Paramedic in Goochland County in 2019. Prior to then and currently, he served as a volunteer and has held leadership roles with Amelia VFD, the Nottoway VRS, and the Blackstone VFD. In Goochland County, Timothy has been assigned to Stations 1, 2, 3, and 6. He is a member of the Water Rescue Team and is assigned to the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team as a Tactical Medic. Lieutenant Immekus has completed the VFCA Virginia Fire Officers Academy. Timmy enjoys being part of a fast-growing department, rising to and overcoming challenges. He is always looking for classes to increase his education and contributing new ideas to both his volunteer and career departments. In his free time, he enjoys getting out of town by going on hikes and ATV trips and overall lives an active lifestyle. This year, Timothy and his wife have increased their family by four paws and are now expecting a baby girl in November.
Lieutenant Paramedic Kirsten Martin is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared herself well over many years for this promotion. Kirsten Martin has dedicated over 20 years to public safety, starting in the late 1990s as a volunteer with Goochland County Fire-Rescue (GCFR) Centerville Company 3. As a career firefighter with Chesterfield Fire and EMS, she completed their Officer Development program and earned a B.A. in Human Resource Management with a minor in Leadership from the University of Richmond. In 2016, she returned to GCFR as a Firefighter Paramedic. In 2018, she graduated from the VFCA Virginia Fire Officer Academy. Over the past year, she has completed the National Fire Academy’s Managing Officers Program and several advanced courses, including the NFA’s New Executive Chief Officer, Command and Control of Incident Operations, and Command and Control Decision-Making at Multi-Alarm Incidents. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Fire Rescue Executive Leadership from Waldorf University. Kirsten actively participates in several professional organizations, including the IAFF Local 4865 and the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association Women of Fire & EMS section. Beyond her public safety career, she dedicates significant time to raising her niece and nephew.
Lieutenant EMT James Tinsley is very deserving of this recognition and has prepared himself well over many years for this promotion. James has almost 8 years of career Fire and EMS experience and was hired in Goochland County in March 2021. Prior to then, he served 4 years with the Alexandria Fire Department in Northern Virginia and was assigned to the ladder company at one of the city’s busiest fire stations. James is a Goochland native, attended school here, and lives in the Hadensville-Fife area of the county. He is dedicated to his church and has previously participated in several counseling roles to reach the youth while giving back to his community to include coaching GYAA Football and mentoring at Elk Hill Educational Institute. Lieutenant Tinsley has obtained much knowledge in a short time and is excited to share to help his county grow. James is currently assigned to Manakin Station 1 where he serves as a Truck 601 operator and is also cleared on most of the department’s specialty units. He continues to look forward to what’s in his future by continuing his learning and teaching others. James was recently recognized by the Dewitt Masonic Lodge and received the 2023 Career Firefighter of the Year Award. James knows the people in Goochland County, and some would say “has never met a stranger”. James values his family and enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
